My motion sensor light stays on all the time, what is the problem? |
After adding an outlet yesterday, when we turned the breaker back on my motion detector light just stays on all the time. I've tried all the adjustments and nothing changes this. Is this something I can fix or do I need a new light? Serious answers only please. Is there any way I can get some real answers for my question? I'm reporting these idiotic ones. Some lights have the ability to be controlled on manual or automatic depending on the number of times that the switch for the light is switched on and off.You may need to kill the power then allow it to go thru its warm up routine again(When it tests itself prior to operation.when initially powered up)Sometimes tripping the breaker and then turning back the power on can remedy the problem. need more info on what changed when the outlet was changed Take it to the shop, see what they advise. Too sensitive ... turn down the sensitivity. if you cant change the sensor i would take it back and get a new light.some are lemons make sure no moving items are within the sensor like plants, pets, passing cars etc. turn down the sensitivity. Have you checked the sensitivity level on the sensor? Your sensitivity level could be to high thus keeping the light on all the time. It could also be due to moth's or other night bugs crossing the sensor causing it to come on. That happens a lot with our back door sensor and our poor Goats complain because the light goes on then wont go off for a long, long time *lol*. quit moving in front of it It's set too sensitive, and is detecting the motion of the earth. If you have tried all the adjustments and sensitivity settings then it could be possible that your motion detector has "burned out". This happens often in motion lights. When you are turning the breaker off and on, sometimes the surge of power can cause the sensor to burn out, therefore not working anymore. It could also have returned the sensor to a "photocell" sort of application. In this case it will stay on all the time. You might need a new fixture. Seriously, motion sensors are so easy to burn out that I would not be surprised if it has just went bad and you need a new one. I get them all the time at work, people have them for maybe a month and the sensor goes bad. On ur motion light there is a setting inbetween the lights a little switch, i believe most slide back and forth, u need to reset it if it didnt do it before you added the outlet....then the answer is probably with the outlet. It sounds like the sensor sensitivity is up to high. Check the instructions. Some of the motion detection lights also have a switch that makes it so that they can be a normal light or a motion sensor light. Again check your instructions. If this doesn't help call an electrician. Could be the sensitivity is to high, try turning it down. 1. You should clean the motion detector lens |
