What is the best and cheapest way to soundproof my attic?

I have my drumset in my attic and it's too loud outside.

Its walls and ceiling are only made of wood.

Do eggcartons work? How about styrofoams? Carpets? Foams? Mats?

Thanks

Start by insulating your drum set from the house downstairs by building a platform to set it on. Place padding under and on the platform before placing your drums. Thick padding and carpet on the remainder of the floor should do fine. Unfinished sheetrock/gypsum wallboard can be nailed to all remaining surfaces and carpet/matting tacked/nailed/screwed to this to absorb sound.

insulate, insulate, insulate.....as time and money permit you can go to owenscorning.com they have some great products out for noise control,I will assume you already have a floor in your attic, if possible pull the floor up and use the spray in type, and relay floor

Insulate between the framing would be a big start. If you're not concerned with how it looks don't put drywall up because that will only make it louder and echo more.

wanna do it with no expense ? I had the same problem except with a loud guitar amp ( course I made it that way ) but I went to McDonald's and collected those cardboard egg cartons and within a short time I had enough to insulate the room. Made a BIG difference and McDonald's goes thru LOTS of eggs and if you ask nicely they will save them for you.
