Any tips on building a model boat out of balsa wood? |
It's just going to be something small, not for anybody to fit in, just a model boat. Please give me tips. It's going to be diesel fueled, and yes it will ride in water. If I remember correctly, balsa wood is the lighter wood? If so, it,s very hard to get this type of wood to bend. I would recommend going with the heavier wood. You can bend easily by placing in water for a few minutes and sculpting. Unless you are going to cover the balsa wood up after framing? If so then you could cut into smaller pieces for the curve. Get the book, "Boats, Airplanes, and Kites" by Armand LaBerge. |
