How do you adjust sprinker heads with a screw in the center?

Do you turn the screw counter clockwise to increase the flow and clockwise to decrease? Do you need a special tool to do this? I tried it with a screwdriver and it didn't seem to make any difference.

I just did that today. The center screw is for the pattern. Use the screw driver and turn to the right and left. If you want a 180 degree pattern figure the center of that turn by the screw driver. You always have to put the sprinkler on and sit and wait till the pattern is there for you. It should have a + and - figuring which way you need to go. I get wet getting hit with them. One way to make your life easy, is get one with a setting there that has Notch's for 90-180-360 pattern. I got mine at Ace Hardware and they were about $ 9.oo about. The thing that is tricky for me is adjusting the front screw which I have to use a tiny Driver to adjust the length of the spray. Hope that helps.

Not to sound "FLIP" but righty tighty works. Clockwise sometimes offers that the amount of water,,,in any pattern, will be reduced.

The fact that you noted no difference may only mean that the screw is just there to hold the head to the plumbing, NOT be an adjustment for amount or spray variations.

Many HEADS only need hand turning to make adjustments.
