What is the best type of underlay to use for wood floor? |
what type of underlay should i use for fitting a real wood floor to a concrete floor . I would prefer an all in one type so im not messing about putting down a DPM and underlay . Suggestions please and where is best place to buy it . Thanks The boards i have bought are 18mm thick and are solid wood ( oak ) , can i put them down onto a concrete floor using the floating floor procedure ? Ideally fit it using a self adhsive underlay such as elastilon, it's great for laying hardwood floors over concrete If you are attaching a REAL wood floor then you need to glue it down. As opposed to a floating wood floor. 3/4 inch real wood? You cannot glue that down and w/o building a " false floor" w/ sleepers and 3/4 ply on that And then you can nail / staple that down . You ll have to go to a floating floor or a glue direct engineered floor which there are some great looking ones that you cant tell the difference from a 3/4 floor GL I think there is only 1 type of underlay for wood flooring its quite thin white and comes on a roll not 100% sure. First things First. You need to check your concrete floor for any moisture migration. Take 4 pcs of aluminum foil about 12' long x whatever width roll is. |
