How do you kill insects on sunflowers without using any chemicals? Only home remedy?

I have a patch of sunflowers and recently bugs have been eating them. I don't want to use chemicals to kill them because I fear that it might kill or harm the sunflowers.
What home remedy can help?

It is extremely hard to answer this one without knowing what insects they are. The dish-soap and water trick will help if they are small insects (around the size of a gnat or small ant). I'm guessing that since a sunflower will grow quite rapidly, really small insects would not have much impact on them (unless there were a whole lot of them feeding) and they the insects you do have on them are of a larger size. If they are indeed larger insects (plant bugs? about the size of a dime and triangle shaped, or caterpillars) most "home remedy" solutions are likely doomed to failure. If your only concern with using chemicals is that you don't want to harm the sunflowers, then I can tell you with much confidence that 99.9% of insect chemicals will not effect the plants at all when used as directed. The first step is to find out what you think is eating your sunflowers. You might try asking at a local nursery or finding a university extension office nearby or simply finding it out for yourself on the internet.

a solution of ivory dish soap & water. whatever you use--it has to be soap tho & not detergent.

You might try a solution of Dawn Dish Liquid & water. Mix in a spray bottle & mist well. It won't hurt your flowers.
