What material is best for rolling out cookies?

I am looking for a dishwasher-safe material that I can roll out dough to cut cookies out. It shouldn't be a fabric. What am I best looking at? Wood? Glass? Something else?

Thank you.

It might also be helpful to find cost-effective materials.

I am trying to make something similar to a cutting board, but for the cookies. We just had the kichen remodeled and I don't want to scratch up the new countertops.

Marble rolling pins are AWESOME, and you dont have to put them in the dishwasher, run hot water over it and everything on it rolls right off. HUGE fan of marble

Dishwasher safe lets out the wooden boards!! they should never be put in dishwasher.

Glass is good, poly is good, a sheet of plexiglass is good.

I use a sheet of vinyl film on the counter top. Then cover the cookie dough with another sheet. and roll the dough between these and peel off the top to cut cookies.

to make pre-iced cookies, sprinkle the film liberally with powdered or granulated sugar and roll the cookies out on the sugar. Cut and flip to bake.

A plastic composite cutting board will hold up in the DW and come in many sizes.
