What is the best method to stain a new fireplace surround and mantel? |
I'm building a home and decided to do all interior painting myself. How do the pro's get that nice finished look and durability to their stained work? Also, what product would you recommend as a sealer? Specific wood type would help.If you've used softwood -pine ,spruce, etc. then you need a wood conditioner before staining.Seal with a polyurethane and sand with a fine grit sandpaper.220 -400 Add another coat of urethane and repeat this process 4 times. You should be close and may decide to add one more coat. |
