How can I learn how to polish different kinds of metals like stainless steel and aluminum?

Is there a class I can take, or an instructional DVD?

I've read that you can polish aluminum to a chrome like shine.

I have no true memory of the substance but used to work for Lockheed Martin as a model maker. I used a lathe with a soft, multi layered buffer and a rouge block that was essentially like a hardened clay. With the lathe on, the rouge block was placed against the buffer, allowing that the rouge would be captured and embedded; then the aluminum piece was applied. It did look like a Chrome finish when buffed, and essentially remained that way.

I have no idea of DVD's but I suggest,,,if you haven't done so already,,,do a WWW using keywords and search for metal buffing rouges and techniques; connect with metal working shops; even orgs that make trophies and awards plaques.

The process itself is simple. The proper substances and buffers is more important. As I recall the Lathe also was set at a relatively high speed. I was also able to use the same rouge and process to polish rough cut edges of plexi.
