How close to a furnace can you build a wall? |
We want to finish our basement and put in a furnace room. How much space does there need to be between the furnace and the wall? That depends on the type of furnace. If you look on the inside of the furnace, there should be a label that will tell you the clearance to combustibles. You need to know the type of furnace, manufacturer and venting used. Furnaces that are vented thru your chimney need combustion air in the room. Use a door with vents or have vents cut into the walls. |
