What can we do about our homes over sized heat pumps? |
The heat pumps in our home are oversized. They cycle on and off too often. The house is cold and clammy. We have 6 tons of cooling but by my calculations, we only need 4 tons. Replacing them with smaller units is too costly. Is there a way to derate them or resolve the situation? The compressors have two speeds and the fans have variable speeds. Any advise would be appritiated. If they are over-sized and are two speed then why are they not just running on the first stage? Call in a HVAC professional who knows heat pumps. There is something wrong if you can't set them to a comfortable level, and it is likely beyond you or me on this board to fix. It's well worth the hundred bucks or so to get a pro out and have a look. |
