How do I know what materials to use to divert a small sewer around an extension I want to build? |
I need to submit drawings to Building Control and they do not give advice. Lets assume you have a house not over 50 years old. The sewer pipe is probably PVC plastic. There are two types Schedule 40 and a thinner walled type that hardware stores carry, (I can't recall the name). The pipe could be 3", but should be 4". So for the drawing show schedule 40 PVC, add the necessary fittings to accomplish what you want. Then when it's approved you can substitute for any surprises you find once you dig it up You will use whatever materials are int he main line itself, If its a 4" line coming off your house. You will have to use 4" to divert it. Just like any plumbing, "Stuff" flows downhill, So make sure you have a grade on it but remember it still has to connect to the other end |
