Need a new fence. How much is a reasonable price to pay a contractor?

The fence will be 80' on both sides of the house, 70' on the bottom and 11' to each side of the house on the front side. Need a vynil fence.

This is an excellent question. The difference between the contractors can be shocking. You didn't mention where you are located, that could also make a difference. Most fence companies will charge per foot to install a fence, however, this may also vary depending on whether or not you purchase the fence from them.

Another question is whether or not you will require a permit to do the work. Many contractors like to "ditch" the permit process. That is not recommended at all. If they don't get a permit, they don't have to have a license or insurance. You will save long term headaches by using a licensed contractor. Make sure that it isn't just the "friends" license they work under either.

So to answer your question, you could probably get someone that is qualified for approximately $10 to $12 per foot to install the fence. It really can add up especially with the amount of footage that you need.

You can buy vynil fence on ebay to save money. I believe boardbound fence is a good company and they will ship it directly to you. When ordering, don't forget the gates, gate hardware, end posts, corner posts, and caps.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

I charge between $25 and $40 per hour for my labor, and installing a fence might largely depend of prep work,,,IE: Stumps or trees in the path, permits I might have to pull, time of year, location, even the home owner wanting to be my foreman.

Even with a crew that's more than a one day job. If I did the work, even alone, the first day would be spent laying out the lines, digging the post holes and installing the posts. With no major issues that could be an 8 hour day. averaging that it's 100 feet of fencing.

Assuming that each section is 6 or 8ft wide, I estimate 12 or 14 sections. If you need gates, they would be added into the bill. If I have to pull permits that too would be added. If I have to pick up and deliver the fence to the job site, that too would be an add on.

I suggest without detailed info,,, $1000, and probably in and out in 2 days,,,including cleanup.

At least $2500-$3000 easily.

It would be by the foot. Most fencing contractors do by the foot or by a 10 foot/8 foot section. Dunno what the cost is.

Get THREE estimates from THREE reputable companies. Compare, contrast, etc.

Lets say thousands. You have chosen the most expensive fence you can buy. This fence will last you a lifetime and will probably require a visit with your loan officer

as there is know definate way of saying, your best bet is to get the estimate of several contracting companies and then look at the prices and see if you can find a REAL person who had work done by the contractor

then make your desion based on that information
