What is the proper procedure for removing grass? |
I would like to replace my lawn with rock landscaping, what do i need to do? You talking 100 sq ft or 10,000 sq ft? The 'right' way to remove 'smallish' portions of a lawn is with a sod cutter - you can rent them at a local rental house. Its just a blade on wheels and you push/kick it with your feet removing the grass and top inch or two of soil. Napalm. Cut it really short then aplly Round up at twice the concentration they recomend. That will kill everything to the roots. Spray round up, then lay plastic sheeting down and cover the top. if you are doing a small area use news paper, The slow way is with a shovel, the easy way is with a small excavator or skid steer... depends on how big the lawn is. Grass and weed killer Remove the top 4 inches or so of sod. Many local nurseries or reant-all places have the equipment to do this. |
