What type of things would i need to put in a homemade pond to support bass or perch?

I want to build a pond and have either bass or perch in it. what would i need to put in the pond to support the fish.

Just before I was able to submit, but after typing what I thought a decent answer, my power went out for a moment, so I'll try again.

First of all, some of your Q might depend on your notion of what is the purpose, as in Fish farming, for Your own food source, of re-stocking efforts.

Almost immediately you should consider size,,, in that intent, as they can become large in the wild.
Second, in any case, you should consider their health in the artificial environment, even if you intend to NET one and have Grilled Bass for dinner.

I'd want a pond with a surface area of a decent size swimming pool at least, with an appropriate depth. The pond could be like a swiiming pool but should have STUFF that becomes the actual pond bed.

The water should be agitated at least, flowing, filtered modestly, and in general should resemble their natural habitat. The two species can co-habitate OK together, but still need their own Space, which would equate to fresh water aquatic plant beds, logs, rocks, etc. , for issues such as hiding, nesting, escape from Sun.

You should learn things about them such as how they co-habitate, how they NEST, what food sources you can introduce that may not be Natural at all, and what THINGS overall are toxic to them. You should probably consider Covering the pond with screening, or be OK with inviting land based critters to explore the pond.

You should learn/know issues such as their tolerance levels in water temps, brackish conditions, adults going after Fry, etc.

I'm sure I have more, but they escape me at the moment.
