I want to lay linoleum in the bathroom, any tips on procedure? |
Is linolium the least expensive way? It's a rental, so I'd go with peel a'n stick linoleum tiles. They allow you to go at your own pace. They are easy to cut and mold around the toilet if you start right. They can be dry fitted -in place- well before you make them permanent. They are cheap enough to discard if you make cutting mistakes. They are now very durable once installed. Excellent techniques, tools and materials for calking around the bath area will highlight a job well-done and bring satisfaction and positive feelings with every use. I would remove the toilet...if u don't you'll have a seam behind the toilet which will come loose later, also you can not get it close to the toilet edge to look good....also remove any floor trim and kick plate under the sink cabinet ....u need to do this to make it go easier.....make a paper pattern of the floor your covering....then u can lay the pattern over the flooring material ( place on top of flooring....now that the flooring is cut, fit into place....fold back half the flooring and apply glue to the floor ( you'll need and 1/8 inch notched trowel for this.... fold the flooring over the glue and press into place with a towel....repeat for the other half of flooring....re-nail any trim back into place....caulk along tub base.....install toilet....remove any water from toilet before moving it and set it on paper becauce wax may be on the bottom i take heavy paper lay it out on the bathroom floor than transfer pattern to back of linoleum than cut, this way if i made a mistake like around the tub its just the paper. you may want to look at press and stick tiles |
