I am making butternut squash soup and forgot the heavy cream, can I use milk? |
It only calls for alittle I just can't jump up and go to the store. I would leave it and go to the store, personally. If it is whole milk, it will be fine. Skim would be the worst... it can't be skim, or it won't work as well Whole milk will be fine, whisk in some butter too. Sure you can, it will not be as thick , I think whole milk will be better . The heavy cream is used due to the fat content, which will make the soup 'come together' nicely. Yes, just simmer the milk in a no stick pan until it reduces by a little. Probably about 1/3 it will take out the water. Yes you will be fine. |
