If a recipe calls for simple sugar syrup, can I use a spenda substitute?

I have a recipe for sherbert and it calls for simple sugar (boil one cup of water with one cup of sugar until the sugar is dissolved then let the mixture cool).

Would this work if I use splenda instead? Thanks.

Many drink recipes call for Sugar Syrup. This version works in those recipes and is Diabetic-Friendly. It's also adaptable to other flavors beyond simply sweet

Sugar-free Simple Syrup Ingredients
1 cup Sucralose Sweetener - Splenda or other brand 1 cup Water - Boiling

Instructions for Sugar-free Simple Syrup
Dissolve Splenda in water and allow to cool. Strain through a coffee filter to remove sediment. Use wherever a recipe calls for simple syrup.

With regard to M*C's answer, I think you can use Splenda, but not the same Splenda you get in little yellow packets for coffee, etc, as that is way way sweeter per oz. than regular sugar.
Splenda makes several mixes: For beverages, for cooking, for baking, etc.
Research the boxes, bags when your shopping to find the one that replaces ounce for ounce with sugar and it should be an ok substitute for granulated sugar in simple syrup.

there is a better tip of sugar it is steveia and it is healthy for you and it is 100% sweeter than sugar us it !!!! you can get it at whole foods

i would wit a little drop of plain surup (that u have laying around the house)
then fill n the rest wit the splenda

but even if u dont have surup .....still use splenda 4 a subsitute anyway

yes, it should work. texture of finished food might vary a bit. Just add enough splenda to = 1 cup of sugar (packets or spoonful)
