Is it possible to dye cake frosting? |
If so, how? I want to dye chocolate brown frosting black before putting it on the cake. ETA - Will food dye work on something as thick as frosting? I want to make sure it'll turn black instead of an brown/black mix. Black is a very hard color to make out of frosting - especially from chocolate brown frosting. Go to your local Walmart, or craft store and get some Wilton's paste coloring. They do have black, but you're not starting with white, so you have to play around more with the color. Paste frosting will not dilute your frosting like using food coloring would, requiring you to add more powdered sugar to it. Okay I mean this in the nicest way, but haven;t you ever seen cakes with colored frosting? That is done with food coloring. So yes it can be done with food coloring. DON'T USE LIQUID FOOD COLOURING! Yes.I've made many cakes in my time and all you have to do is add a few drops of food coloring to the frosting(depending on what color you want it) and....you should get the color you want..Add a little coloring at a time and then blend together until you get the results you've been looking for....although-I've never made a black frosting out of a brown one before... Just add some black food colouring to your frosting and mix it well before applying. Im not sure where you can get black food colouring, but mixing every single colour does usually come up with some dark brownish/blackish colour. That could be difficult, but check to see what colour food colourings are available at the supermarket. dont know how many people will eat black cake but yes you can take black food coloring and change it Just be sure to get professional food dye at a craft store like Michaels. Black dye will turn your lips and tounge black. *so get black food coloring ad add it to your frosting two drops at a time, and mix well...... USE FOOD COLORING food coloring.... That's what food colouring is for. Go buy some. Yes, of course! All you have to do is add food coloring! yes you may |
