What is the quickest & easiest way to dice a tomato?

I would like cooking if it weren't for the chopping...oh how I hate it. I takes forever and I really hate dicing tomatoes (and garlic for that matter).

How do I quickly cut up a tomato uniformly (appox. the size for chunks in salsa) without squishing the tomato in the process, cutting my finger, or making an icky mess?

I love my tomato slicer. It looks like this:

You don't have to buy it at WS, you can probably find it almost anywhere kitchen/cookware is sold. You can use it to slice mushrooms & hard boiled eggs as well. Very quick & easy.

For the quickest way to dice a tomato in large quantities (and I do this ALOT), cut your stem side off so you have a stable, verticle line to rest your tomato. Then, put that stem side down on your cutting board, standing the tomato upright and grab your serrated knife. Make a cut ALMOST down to the core, then turn the tomato a quarter turn, then do that cut again, almost down to the bottom. Then, lay your tomato on it's side,(horizontal) then slice it from the top end to the bottom and then you will see chunks of tomatoes falling all over your cutting board with little to no effort, uniform and easily done. This is the fastest way I have come to find through years of experience and cutting from most Chef's points of view. Yes, prepping, chopping, cutting is quite arduous, but if you know the inside scoop of secrets to work "smarter and not harder", then it's not so bad. I hope this helps you out today, keep your fingers safe with the sharpest of knives!

With a very sharp serrated knife like you would an onion.

How to Chop a Tomato

Cut off the stem top and discard. Cut the tomato on a chopping board into about 6 slices

Stack the slices
in 2 or 3 piles

Cut into bite-size pieces. A very ripe tomato can be difficult to cut, so be sure to use a sharp knife or a good serrated-edge knife

i buy mine in a can. don't have to worry about chopping or the tomato rotting before i get to it.

you a mandolin that slices pretty quick it does different thicknesses and watch your fingers the blades are mighty sharp.

I agree with ap girl
