Why do people provide more info then asked for? |
I've noticed when people are answering questions, that they sometimes give more information then was asked for. And the cooking/recipe section really blows my mind, you can specifically ask that they don't cut and paste from websites and they do it anyway. Any ways, my question is this: Why do humans have to add more info, and info that wasn't even mentioned at that, then the asker asked for? Because they don't pay attention to exactly what the asker is requesting. Do you have a particular example? Sometimes, the question warrants a deeper, more involved answer than the user asks for. I spend a bit of time in Singles & Dating, and the question is, "Does he like me?" -- well, how do we know? The answer should always be "I don't know" because unless you're the "he" in question, you don't know. But we still provide considerate answers (and sometimes not-so-considerate) to draw conclusions and come up with a more valid answer than the very dull yet very true "I don't know". I have noticed that many (most) questions do not include enough information to answer with any semblance of accuracy. For example, "I want to plant a tree in a very small space--any suggestions?" Just be grateful you got answers. You can choose not to use the info, but isn't more better than less? And in my case, many recipes I use are from foodnetwork, they are still favorites I have made several times. I may copy the recipe and add my suggestions rather than rewriting the whole thing-- its faster. You expect us to write out the whole recipe but you can't spend the time reading extra information people think may be helpful to you? because they can , so if people dont want too much info, they need to tell them yes and or no or to make it short.... not everybody stipulates that in their questions from what I have seen, you may be the exception. I think they should just be happy someone answered.. Because people are self obsessed and believe that their opinion is the most important, and that they know the most so they write more to try and sound more intelligent than others They might feel that the additional information more readily supports their answer........or they might want to provide additional information to make someone feel better. It depends on the nature of the question, I suppose. Not sure why this would blow your mind? to be helpful and make sure that your answer is thorough. some people happen to leave alot of information out of thier questions so the person answering has to guess as to what they want sometimes. They just want to help & be specific. I prefer specific answers over vague ones. That's the reason why I want to ask. As for the pasting thing, may be they do that because they like what you like. maybe it can open some ones eyes to different ideas.i dont mind it i like it more information about things the better, dont ask a question then~ I think they add more info than necessary on here so they can be voted best answer on a question. To give you more information than anyone else so you'll give them best answer points. Probably trying to stand out from the others, and get picked as "Best Answer" ...... i like them short and sweet but some thing more is better,,,, i also hate long questions I agree with most. People want to be helpful!! And being the Best Answer makes you feel good. To look smart To be helpful??? |
