Hot iron and newspaper (or any absorbant paper) Try getting some ice and holding it on the wax til it peels off. Then just wash that part with hot water and Dawn dish soap.Sorry to hear you had wax on Our Flag.... Two things could work. Try freezing it and see if it will scrape off, that's your safest bet to not ruin the fabric. Just put it in the freezer for at least 3 hours and use a butter knife to break off the wax. If it's really imbedded into the fabric and the freezing doesn't work, then try ironing it. Put an absorbant cloth under and over the flag, maybe a wash cloth or a hankercheif, and see if the wax will melt out. Good Luck. Get a brown paper bag and set your iron to "wool" or delicate" and then place the paper bag over the wax. Then iron The best way to get wax off is to place a few drops of eucalyptus oil on the wax and leave for a few minutes then wash. This may need to be done a few times but it will all come out. Finish with a wipe of methylated spirits and eucalyptus oils Lay a damp hand towel over the wax and iron ( on med. setting). Make sure you do not iron the flag, only the towel. The wax will be in the towel, but will come out when you wash the towel in warm water. |
