How do I remove vomit stains and odor from carpet?

I've tried cleaing the carpet with carpet clean and read about using vinegar to remove the odor, but that hasn't worked. Any other ideas?

Baking soda.

Scrub the area with a mixture of baking soda and water. Clean up the excess water and sprinkle with a generous layer of more baking soda. Let it absorb all the odor overnight. It should be all dry by then, sweep up the bulk and then vaccuum the rest.

Try pet stain and odor remover it work very well on all stains and odors. I use it for any stain that i get and it makes the room smell clean and fresh.

Try Woolite w/ Oxi-Clean. Just spray it on the stain, let it soak in for a few minutes, then scrub it with a brush and let it dry! That should take up the stain and odor.

As a bonus, you can get carpet and room deodorizer in a can, you shake it on your carpet, let it sit a few minutes, then vaccuum it up. It leaves your room smelling great!!!

For the odor, you could try a product called "Nature's Miracle" available at your local petstore.

The person who answered OXY carpet cleaner is right - it works pretty well for stains... just be careful read the warnings and test it somewhere in a hidden spot. It can also make the carpet look "too" clean when compared to surrounding space.

Try oxy carpet cleaner. It works great! When I had a dog thats what I used. It is worth the money.
