How Do I Get Static Out Of My Clothes?

It might seem like a silly question, but whenever I take a jumper out of a drawer and put it on it gets full of static and sticks to me. I hate it! Any suggestions to get rid or to stop it happening in the first place? Thanks x

put a piece of rubber on it... then the static will be transfer to elsewhere

Kleeneze (you know, the people who drop off little catalogues then call later for any orders) - they do a great antistatic spray that is really excellent. I haven't tried hairspray so I can't comment! Good luck!

Use a fabric softener (i.e Lenor) for final rinse. Or when drying put a drying sheet in the tumble dryer. This should take away the static

Use fabric softener (licquid or sheets) when doing your laundry. I use Downy & it will definitely eliminate static cling.

Some interesting tips there!

Always use conditioner when doing the washing and that should stop the static

Try hairspray. works a treat.

They sell a product called static guard in the store, it has a slight smell to it but it does work. You can spray it on even while you have the clothing on. You can also use fabric softener when you do your laundry. Hair spray is another product that works. If you don't want to spray something on the fabric you can take a fabric softener sheet and wipe the inside of the fabric with the fabric softener sheet. Not only will it take the static away it will give your clothes a nice smell if you buy the ones with a scent to it. I keep a small can of static guard and a small box of fabric softener sheets in my desk drawer at work and glove compartment of my car for such emergencies.

DOWNY SOFTENER

This one's the cheapiest and easiest. Stick them in the dryer with anti-static dryer sheets.

Do you use dryer sheets such as Bounce?

Use fabric softener in the washer and/or dryer. Remove the jumper before it is completely dry and hang it up. The longer it stays in the dryer, the more apt it is to have static cling. Good luck!

Mabye you are drying your clothes too long. Try allowing them to air dry a little. Dryer sheets will stop a great deal of this.

they have a spray for static cling....or wash in fabric softener.

Make your own faux Fabreeze, Just use one capful of Liquid fabric softner to a half filled spray bottle of warm water, use fine mist only. Spray your clothes when you have a static cling problem, like magic they are instantly soft and static free, and this is easy to make and less expensive than Fabreeze. You can also use a metal coat hanger just slide it up and down your clothes a few times and the static will be instantly discharged. Good Luck !
