How can I reduce the affects of beer (alcohol) on my body, make my self less likely to vomit?


I am participating in a case race soon so I need to drink alot of beer as fast as possible and no throwing up. What should I do to prepare? things I should eat before the competition?

I've competed and won several case races in my collegiate career. You don't want to eat anything too heavy. I would say if you haven't eaten anything today, try two double cheesburgers from McDonalds. If you have eaten today, try only one. I've seen many different ways of going at a case race. I've had friends that could chug beer like it was their job, their technique would be to start out chugging and chug till they puke, they would be out first, but they put down their share before being dissqualified. My technique was a steady pace. You want to be standing for the case race, never sitting; walking around a little will help too. Get into a rythm. I would always fill up my mouth with beer, swallow, and count how many times it takes me to finish one beer. then, just stay with that pace, you'll be concentrating on counting your sips rather then the taste or how full you are. I hope some of this info helps you, it always worked for me. work your way up to a keg race, longer but much more interesting, haha. good luck.

The best way to condition yourself for a "case Race" is to increase your tolerance for alcohol. So...Drink alot leading up to the day, and on the day of eat a lot of starch on the day of (rice potatos..etc) but dont eat too much or you wont be able to drink beer.

That being said a case race is dangerous and you should not participate if you are not familiar with the affects that alcohol has on your body.

throwing up is your bodies way of saving itself from poisoning. Are you that stupid? or suicidal? maybe the type that just follows the leader and the leader has his head up his ***.

EAT! its really the only way. people will probably say stuff like take a cold shower, but that does nothing. & for every beer you drink it takes an hour to sober completely up. so 3 beers = 3 hours. eating before you drink will also help alot

Don't be in it but whatever you do don't take any of those meds for no hangovers before if you you have to go. you could be in trouble.

EAT SOMETHING AND DRINK SOME MILK BEFOREHAND

Suck on some ginger candy before hand. Or drink some pepto bismo. Eat a light meal of bread/starch about two hours before hand. The main reasons you would throw up would be these:
1) too warm. The colder it is the less foam there is, but drinking a warm beer will cause you too vomit if there is too much foam.
2) Agitating the beer as you drink it.. Dont try to slam it to your mouth, you will cause foam which will make you vomit. If you drop a beer as you pick it up, move to the next, dont try to drink that one.

Suggestions!

1) My wife says I slap her butt when I am chugging beer. Maybe that helps me with my awesome beer drinking ability.
2) I open my beers before hand if I am chugging so that the co2 has time to somewhat disperse. Will they allow you to line the beers up and open them? Do you have time to open them after the timer starts? When you first open them the initial rush of CO2 causes foam, which makes you puke when you drink the foam.
3) As beer warms, it gets more CO2 pressure, this is due to the fact that beer can hold more co2 when its cold and as it warms up it loses the ability, so when you open a warm beer it foams a lot more. if you can do the line up and open thing at the beginning quickly, your beer will have settled and it wont foam as it warms up. Every little bit helps.

potato soup, potato anything, mashed etc. have you considered a different sort of race?

Although your answer is informative your math on percentages of alcohol in the blood is wrong! 20% alcohol in your blood?? Try 2%

Remove your liver?
It takes your body one hour for every equalized alcoholic beverage for your liver to metabolize it.
Aside from the obvious - just plain don't participate.
No joke, being a state certified bartender and trained in alcohol awareness - a case of beer in an hour or two can lead to death. The average weight person, who has ate for the day, will blow on a breathalizer a .08 after two alcoholic beverages in less than an hour. What do you think 24 drinks in 1-2 hours will do to you?
Once you've blown a .20 - the average person that gets pulled over for a DUI gets hospitalized. This means your blood stream is 1 gram of alcohol per every 500 grams of blood. Which is a lot.
And after a .30 - you are generally on your way to clinical death - your organs shut down.
Re-think the race. One case of beer in 1-2 hours on average will put you at a .91% BAC.

dont eat before you drink and drink a glass of milk to line your stomach.
