What is the best lager beer to drink?

I am looking for high alcohol volume and a smooth taste. Real answers only please, no smart-a** comments. Thanks!

Some of you boys are clueless as to what a lager is. Newcastle ain't one. It's an ale, a different type of beer.

My favorite lagers are, in no order:

Stiegl, from Salzburg
Jever pils, from northern Germany
Pilsner Urquell, from Plzen, Czechia
Steinlager, from New Zealand
Hacker-Pschorr helles, from Munich
Grolsch, from Holland

this is the one of the best ,
Pilsner Urquell Kvasnicovy (Unfiltered)

serve cool it tastes really good

Okay people beer 101

Beer has two main categories

Ales & Lagers

The are defined largely by the type of yeast (strain) and it's action of fermentation. Ale yeasts are very aggresive and ferment around (50-63 F)form a yeast cap on top of the fermenting wort/beer. Ale yeasts produce pronounced flavors and clean aromas. Lager yeast ferments at a lower (38-45F) temp. is more slow in it's action. Lager yeasts also peoduce a more pronounced flavor profile such as buttery (dicetyl) or cloves.
Both can produce high alcohol beers.

Both ales and lagers can be light or dark.

Example of ales, Pale Ale, Bitter, Belgian styles,Porters, Stout (Guiness)

Examples of lagers: Pilsners (coninetal, American), munich, vienna, Bock

Enjoy your beers.

Im with jeff-bob, Yuengling lager!! Damn good tasty lager. Matter of fact just tapped a fresh keg yesterday :)

My favorite is Newcastle.

that is a personal taste question. i like guiness , but has to be brewed in the uk, american version their is a slight difference.

Yuengling Lager from Pottsville Pa. Amber Lager. Awsome!!

I really like Samuel Smiths organic lager. it's very smooth but has a fantastic flavor that goes well on a hot day and with almost any meal. It also avoids the tendancy for over-hopping that you taste in most european lagers. it has an alcohol contend of around 6% which is just above average, but i'm a fairly heay drinker and it's deffinitly a noticeable beverage.

Once you start getting high alcohol content the taste seems to get a little sharper, try Duvel (8%). Cheers!
