Why does eating greasy food help you recover from a hangover?

I'm looking for a semi-scientific answer.

It doesn't, there are many things which can contribute to assuaging a hangover, but the main ones are water and time. Other than that it is a lot of pseudo-science and folklore.
Even if greasy food does coat your stomach walls, the majority of alcohol is going to be being absorbed in your small intestine by the time you wake up, and the majority of it is already going to have been in your bloodstream and metabolized.
Besides it isn't the alcohol itself that causes a hangover, mainly the dehydration that the alcohol produces.

If greasy food assists you then good, eat it, but I know a lot of people who cannot eat greasy food or they will feel worse.

I would think that the grease coats your stomach lining thus reducing the amount of alcohol absorbed into your body.

Not a Doc, so purely hypothetical here.

The Ol' Sasquatch 脺

Because the grease coats your stomach.

It doesn't.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I have a hangover (and my stomach is feeling crappy) it doesn't help at all.

agree with the 2nd guy. Chinese Food always does the trick
