What names do you think need to be retired?

My cousin just named her daughter Tessa who is now about 3 months old. That sounds like an old maid to me.
She said that she named her after Tessa of Laguna Beach though.

I KNOW that it's the parent's choice on what they want name their child.
This is just an opinion question to start converstion, that's all. Don't get all self righteous on me, please.

I hate the Aidan names!!! Jayden, Braiden, Hayden... Gosh they are so overused and annoying to hear! I am tired of Gracie, Maggie, Emily, Anna, Marie, larry, Jim, bob. Names like that which are sooo old! I do like Emma though because it was my Great Great Grandmothers name. Tessa sounds pretty to me and you dont hear it every day its not my first choice but i think its nice.

Gracie and Maggie need to go. Those are dog names, and I'm still amazed people name their kids that way. Then there's Brittany, Ashley and Hayley, all of which are so overused. I went to college with a girl named Tessa, and I think it's a simple, pretty name. Tessie, however, is not good. Not good at all.

tessa isn't so bad.

I am so sick to death of hearing
Isabella, Grace, Emma, Emily, Rose

jayden, aidan, cayden. hayden, brayden etc...all need to be retired for at least the next 20 years!

Tessa is a very pretty name!!

Nevaeh, Candace, Brooklyn, Mackenzie, Morgan, Britney, Jessica, Ashley, Madison, Aidan, Toby, Brent, Shanique, LaToya, Keyoisha..LOL, it would probably take me a long time to write down all the names that need to be retired.

A lot of people are going back to the older names. Tessa has so many nicknames = Theresa = Terri = Tess = Tessa = Resa

Tessa is a beautiful and one of those names that was a name back when but it is coming around even more popular. It is beautiful.

I don't think any names need to be retired. It's a parents perogative to call their kids whatever they want. I personally wouldn't call my kids any of the hugely popular names, like Jessica, Kylie, Daniel (well, I couldn't call him that anyway, it's my brother's name), Michael (even though I love it, it's too darn popular). I probably wouldn't call them any of the names that were really popular around the time of their birth either, coz then they'd end up in a class at school with 3 Ella's lol. (Ella is my cousin's name... she hasn't started school yet but I'm sure when she does she'll have other Ella's in her class). I know what that's like. My name's Rebekah, and in my year level at high school, there were anywhere between 6-8 Rebekahs (two of them are two of my best friends lol). But, in the end, it's up to the parents. If they really like one of the really popular names, then they should use it.

Tessa is a beautiful name. Much better than the made-up ones that are so popular now.

I think Aidan, Madeleine and their various misspellings need to go.

Nevaeh, Brooklyn, and Cadence. Goodness, how I hate those names.

I think Madison, Peyton, Jackson, Gavin, Katelyn/Kaitlyn, Jasmine, Alexis/Alexa, Donovan, Taylor, Ashley, Samantha, Alyssa, Brianna, Ella, Lauren, Hailey, Kayla, Victoria, Savannah, Jessica, Logan, Christian, Jonathan, Brandon, Destiny, Kevin, Austin, Kaylee, Nevaeh, Justin, Jayden, Jason, Kimberly, Mackenzie, Jennifer, Makayla, Brooke, Bryan, Michelle, Eric, etc

There are so many names I would like to see gone, LOL!

Tessa is pretty

Madison needs to be retired!!!

I like the name Tessa :)

I think Ava does. I know it is popular, but when i hear it it sounds like an elderly woman, not a baby born in 2007. One of my friends just had a baby and named her Ava. I think there are many cuter names that a child can be named. I like names like Kaitlyn and Alexandra, they can go by many different names, depending on their age.

i think tessa is unique, but i have to agree with you too. but whatever floats your boat. i actually know a friend of mine whos middle name is amanda after melrose place.
